Rt. 64 an hour east of Taos...
...and into the Great Plains
near Cimarron NM

Take a right at Cimarron,
a few miles south to Philmont.
Spent a wonderful 2 weeks as a teenager here!
Base of the Sangre de Cristo range.
Must have hiked 50 miles with 40-pound pack!
Came across
the country by land
(bus+train) added unique perspective.
where we stayed the first night.
Oil baron who donated land.
Somewhere there is "Tooth of Time"
and Mt. Baldy.
Wild-west gunfights occurred here!
