| Porter style beer was originally called Entire by its creator, an early 18th Century London brewer named Harwood. However, the beer soon became the favorite brew of the porters of the London street markets and acquired the nickname "Porter's Ale." As time went on, the name simply became Porter. Porter that was extra strong was known as "Stout Porter" and eventually just "Stout." |
