| In February 1979, President Jimmy Carter legalized home brewing of beer, correcting an error made in the Federal Register when Prohibition was repealed in 1933. When Congress ratified the 21st Amendment, they had intended to make home brewing of both wine and beer legal. However, a stenographers omission left out the words "and/or beer." |
