The Hacker-Pschorr Story
In 1417, the Pschorr Family first began
offering their special beers to the people of Munich.
From that year forward, the superior reputation of
Hacker-Pschorr Biers has spread worldwide. For it is
Hacker-Pschorr's exacting standards -- brewing with only
the finest two-row Bavarian barley and wheat malts;
select Bohemian Hallertau and Saaz hops; Hacker-Pschorr's
exclusive, centuries old yeast; and the purest of spring
waters of the Alps -- that create Hacker-Pschorr's
unmistakable, and distinctly natural beers. Munich's
beers since 1417! Reinheitsgebot, the Bavarian Law of Brewing Purity, was enacted in 1516. This Law, still in effect today, requires all Bavarian brewers to use only malted grain, yeast, hops and water. However in 1516 the Hacker-Pschorr Brewery had already been brewing to these exacting standards of purity since 1417, thus setting the standard nearly 100 years before the standard was set. In 1870, Hacker-Pschorr Bier was the first European beer to be exported commercially in kegs to the American market. Its popularity spread rapidly across the United States and, in 1876 at Americas Centennial Exibition, Hacker-Pschorr Bier was selected "The Best Beer in America" by no less an Act of the United States Congress. Over the centuries, Hacker-Pschorr Biers have remained true to their brewing ingredients, heritage, and hand crafted techniques. Lagering times are still measured in months, rather than days or weeks as is common with most brewers today. And Hacker-Pschorr never uses tunnel or full pasteurization, as this would change the natural flavor of the Biers. Hacker-Pschorr Bier are brewed as they have been since 1417. Each Hacker-Pschorr bottle and keg is prominently labeled with an easy-to-read "best before"date to ensure freshness. And Hacker-Pschorr are never altered for export. Rest assured, the Hacker-Pschorr Biers you enjoy in America today are brewed the same way the people of Munich have enjoyed since 1417. |
